PAVAN FLORAL / Brie Walter

Pavan Floral is owned by Brie Walter, a California florist with an eye for artistic designs and a European inspired aesthetic.

The name Pavan comes from a Spanish Renaissance dance. Pavane pour une infante défunte is a piece written by the French composer Maurice Ravel, and it encapsulates so much of the essence I want to create with my flowers. Every arrangement is slightly different, allowing the flowers to move in their natural state—a sort of dance of their own.

Brie Walter / owner

I am inspired by European beauty: painting, sculpture, literature, landscape, architecture, and music. By filling in the negative space, each arrangement serves as its own tiny sculpture.

My designs are a thoughtful process. I grow what I can, study the plant behavior, and choose selectively what is in season for each event.

I create a feeling; a tone for your room. People take in art and beauty, whether or not they even realize they are. My intention is to create a table spread or ceremony set up that is welcoming and warm, and allows guests and clients to enter into the space fully. They may not exactly remember every detail, but they will remember the feeling when they sat down for dinner or exchanged their vows. Those are the magic moments, and I believe florals can transport us there. It is my job as an artist to notice the details many miss, and present them in a way that guides a guest's experience through those elements. That’s what inspires me to create.
